I love this pillow cakes by Elizabeth Solaru!

Apologies for not updating the site since my interview with Mich Turner.  It has been extremely busy with me trying to complete my crime novel and also looking for a more effective way of assisting you. I have now decided that I will post lots of tips and quick tricks that we have researched on the web as there are lots of information out there.  We will also do a few more tutorials. So, please watch this space. In the meantime there are some interesting cakes on our Facebook page so go along and visit.

When Mich Turner won her first cookery competition at the age of 15 she would never have dreamed that years later she would be described as the ‘Bentley of Cake makers’ and ‘Queen of Couture cakes’ or that cake decorators worldwide would aspire to copy her classic distinctive style.

Over the years Mich has made cakes for Her Majesty The Queen and celebrities like Madonna, Pierce Brosnan, Cheryl Cole and David Beckham.  What attracted MyCakeresort to Mich was her seeming iron discipline and being at the top of the competitive cake business. As we all know, our art is not just about the business but about creativity, trends, skills and staying ahead of the game. Mich has proved all this and continues to evolve in the business.

It has been a while since I wrote any news or updated the site.  It was naughty but necessary as I decided to take a mini-break for some creative work! One was a wedding cake as a present for a close friend’s daughter and another was to catch up on my crime writing. It was great to put some of my skills to test! I also took a day out to attend a Squires kitchen course - how to achieve sharp edged sugarpaste by Helen Mansey of Bellissimo cakes(see my creation on the left!).  It was my first course with them and I loved it!  The ambience, hospitality(light lunch provided), friendly staff and course attendees. It was worth every penny as Helen was a skilled, creative and patient teacher.
